Abstract

863,911. Endless belt conveyers. KABUSHIKI KAISHA HITACHI SEISAKUSHO. Feb. 2, 1959, No. 3631/59. Class 78 (1). In a belt conveyer, the belt 1 is driven by frictional contact with a series of endless driving belts 7, 71, 7<SP>11</SP> having respective driving drums 3, 4, 5 which are driven by an endless cable 11 successively looped around pulleys 13, 14, 15 respectively associated with the pulleys 3, 4, 5. The driving belts 7, 71, 7<SP>11</SP> are caused to drive the lower run of the belt 1 in addition to the upper run by snubbing rollers 25 associated with each of the driving drums 3, 4, 5 to urge the belt 1 into frictional contact with an arcuate portion of each driving belt where the latter passes around its respective driving drum. Each of the driving belts is tensioned by a weight 10, and further weights 9, 19 are provided respectively to tension the belt 1 and the cable 11. The latter is driven by a pair of driving pulleys 16, 17. The working run of belt 11 may be troughed by sets of idler rollers, Fig. 3, the driving belts 7, 71 and 7<SP>11</SP> being narrower than the belt 1 and arranged centrally of its width.
