Abstract

The conveyor comprises two endless belts (10, 12) describing two closed loops about drive and guide pulleys (14, 16, 18, 20, 28, 30, 32, 34). On a portion common to the two loops, between the end pulleys (28, 30), the belts (10, 12) are pressed against each other in order to constitute the transport segment (25) of the conveyor. In order to prevent leakages and falls of material between the edges of the belts, the transport segment (25) is associated with two series of rollers (46, 47) arranged in staggered fashion on either side of the edges of the belts. A first series of rollers (46) bears on one side of the belts and the second series of rollers (47) bears on the other side of the belts in the gap of the rollers (46) of the first series. The edges of the belts (10, 12) describe a sinuous path creating an additional tension, maintaining tight gripping of the edges. The conveyor may be used for transporting coal. <IMAGE>
