338,289. Nyborg ; T. G., and Higgins, M. F. Oct. 1, 1929. Driving-gear for endless-belt conveyers.-In an endless belt conveyer of the kind in which the driving drum 4 is disposed between its ends, coupled displaceable jockey pulleys 5, 6 are provided which engage tensioned and slack portions of the belt. Displacement of the pulley 6 by pressure of the tensioned portion of the belt moves the other pulley 5 to press the slack end of the belt against the drum 4 sufficiently to cause the belt to be gripped between the two drums so that the tension exerted on the driving side is practically independent of the tension in the slack side. An endless belt 11 may be passed round the pulleys 5, 6. In a modification the pulleys 5, 6 are mounted in arms 12, 13, Fig. 3, pivoted to a frame 7 and acted on by springs 14, 15.
