Abstract

759,210. Endless belt conveyers. GENERAL ENGINEERING CO. (RADCLIFFE), Ltd. March 3, 1955 [April 23, 1954], No. 11734/54. Class 78 (1). [Also in Group V] A cable 32 or other elongated material of strip, wire or sheet form is hauled, e.g. from an extrusion machine for applying a plastic sheath to the cable, by a pair of belts 10, 11 carried on pulleys 12, 13 on frames 14, 15 supported for movement in the horizontal plane by parallel links 17, 20 respectively, the two frames being maintained at corresponding positions with reference to a central frame 24 along which the cable &c. is guided by toggle links 26, 27 whose common pivot pin engages a slot 25 in frame 24. An initial gripping force is applied to the cable by a spring 31, the arrangement causing the gripping force to increase as the required pull on the cable &c. increases. One pulley 12 and one pulley 13 are driven from a single motor-driven shaft 41 by chains 39 driving one member of each of two double sprockets 36, 38 on the axes of pivoting of the respective links 17, 20, the other member of each double sprocket driving the respective belt pulley by further chains 35, 37 respectively.
