Class 7(6) An operating member 1 is connected to a fuel supply control member 4 through a lost-motion device 8 and a dash-pot 21 is connected to the fuel control member 4 and retards the movement thereof in response to movement of the member 1 in at least one direction. The lost-motion device 8 comprises links 7 and 9 attached to discs 12, 13, movable inside a sleeve 8 against the force of springs 17, 18, and permits lost-motion between the member 1 and a lever 6 connected to the member 4 in either direction of movement of the member 1. The dash-pot 21 comprises a piston 20 connected to the lever 6 and an oil-filled cylinder 21 connected to the engine frame, or vice versa, the piston preferably having a non-return valve 28 permitting quick movement of the piston when the member 1 is moved to reduce the fuel supply. The device 8 may be arranged to permit lost motion only when the member 1 is moved to increase the fuel supply.
