707,183. Vehicle wheels. FORDHAM PRESSINGS, Ltd., and PARKER, J. F. Jan. 28, 1953 [Feb. 4, 1952], No. 2855/52. Class 144(1) A trolley or like wheel is detachably mounted on a fixed axle or journal 10 having a fixed inner retaining collar 11 by a U-shaped spring 14 housed in an axial bore 13 in the axle end, the spring having a lateral abutment 16 to project resiliently through a transverse hole 15 in the axle end and engage the outer end face of the wheel hub. As shown the abutment 16 is formed as an inverted V-shaped kink in a U-shaped leaf spring 14 to provide for a cam-action depression of the abutment on manual mounting or removal of the wheel. In an alternative construction, both limbs of the U-shaped spring may have an abutment 16 to project through diametrically opposed transverse holes.
