Abstract

747,141. Lubricators. MILLER, G. D. March 12, 1954, No. 7240/54. Class 12 (3). A lubricator for use with a journal having an axle cap 12 with a window opening 13 comprises a plate 16 hinged at one end to a pintle 18 and provided at the other end with a hinged carrier 20 on which is mounted lubricant applying means 25, resilient means 33 being provided to urge the lubricant applicator into contact with the journal 10. The applicator comprises a set of felt members each with a depending portion 27 dipping into a reservoir 15 for lubricant. Each member has a holder 28 with a stud 30 which is mounted in one of a set of holes 31 in the carrier 20. The carrier has ears 22 which straddle flanges 19 on the plate 16 and are pivotally secured thereto by rivets 23 and bushings. The lubricator may be used in traction motor suspension bearings of diesel locomotives.
