[Class 12 (i)] [Also in Group XXII] A cast axle-box 8, or at least that part in contact with the outer races 10, 11, is formed by pearlitic cast iron to reduce the friction between the box 8 and the races 10, 11. The axlebox is cast in one piece and the roller bearings 2, 3 are mounted on the journal 1 by taper sleeves 4, 5 secured by a plate 6 screwed at 7 to the journal.
