A top roller journal assembly for a sugar cane mill comprises top and bottom bearing brasses 12, 13, split horizontally, secured to each other by bolts 16, passing through lugs 14, 15, and nuts 17. The bottom brass 13 is provided with flat faces 13a at each side which form virtual extensions of similar vertical side faces 12a on the top brass. The side faces 12a, 13a fit between the faces of a headstock 10 and wearing plate 11.
