Abstract

1,187,219. Rolling. SVENSKA KULLAGERFABRIKEN A.B. 26 July, 1967 [29 July, 1966], No. 34404/67. Heading B3M. [Also in Division F2] A support arrangement for a bearing chock of a rolling mill roll has a fluid bearing between the chock and a pin, for example, which supports the housing on a roll stand. In an embodiment a bearing chock 8 receives roller bearings 3 and 4 which radially support a journal 1 of a roll 2 and receives ball bearings 6 and 7 which axially support said journal 1. A fluid bearing 10 is mounted between the chock 8 and a pin 9, the latter being supported on a roll-stand (not shown). The fluid bearing comprises a plate 16 which is attached to the chock 8, a member 14 attached to the pin 9 and a disc 11 mounted therebetween. The disc 11 is provided with a plane surface having pockets 17 therein for co-operating with a plane surface of the plate 16 and is provided with a spherical surface 12 having pockets 17 therein for co-operating with a concave-spherical surface 13 of the member 14. The pockets 17 are supplied with pressurized-fluid through feed pipes 18 and 19, via restrictors 20 and 21. Each set of pockets 17, Fig. 2 (not shown), may be replaced by one pocket 17, Fig. 3 (not shown).
