Abstract

1360438 Bearings W SCHAEFFLER and G SCHAEFFLER [trading as INDUSTRIEWERK SCHAEFFLER OHG] 3 Sept 1971 [5 Sept 1970] 41289/71 Heading F2A A multi-row radial cylindrical roller bearing assembly 2 mounted in a housing is provided with end rings 8, 18, 19, the arrangement being such that the assembly cannot be removed from the housing whilst the end rings are secured to the housing; the shaft journal 1, which is a loose fit in the bore of the inner race, can thus be removed without dismantling the bearing. An axial thrust rolling bearing 4 may be included; in one embodiment (Fig. 6, not shown), this is a radial ball bearing, the outer race of which is a loose fit in the housing so that no radial load is transmitted. The inner race bore may be coated with silver.
