Abstract

893,777. Rollers. LINOTYPE & MACHINERY Ltd. Aug. 21, 1959 [Sept. 8, 1958], No. 28728/58. Class 42 (2). An inking roller includes a non-rotatable support-shaft 11, a rotary shell member 12 of tubular form mounted coaxially on the shaft by means of self-aligning bearings 14 to carry the shell member in such a way that the shaft is free to flex under load independently of the shell member. Preferably the self-aligning bearings have a convex spherical contour on the outer race which fits a concave housing of spherical contour fixed to the shell member. The two bearings 14 are positioned equi-distant from the ends and substantially half the length of the shell apart.
