In a bearing to support rollers 3 of a rotary cylindrical furnace 1, the shafts of the rollers 3 are supported in bearings 4, each in two parts, namely an inner curved part to rotate in an outer part, itself movable in a housing, in a linear direction substantially at right angles to the shaft. Each bearing 4 is carried on an hydraulic piston 5, the spaces beneath the pistons communicating through a conduit 6. In a modified form each bearing is supported by a spring instead of a piston.
