Abstract

1,098,100. Bearings. SOC. ANON. ANDRE CITROEN. Oct. 21, 1966 [Oct. 29, 1965], No. 47110/66. Heading F2A. A sleeve 1, Fig. 1, is made of low-friction material, has a flange 1a at each end thereof and has a ring 2 of elastic material mounted between the flanges 1a so as to resiliently support the sleeve 1 in a housing 3. The face of the sleeve 1 which contacts the ring 2 is made rough so as to prevent relative rotation therebetween. The ring 2 is secured to the housing 3 by means of an adhesive &c. A shaft 4, having a sleeve 5 of low-friction material secured thereto, is mounted within the sleeve 1 and may be restricted in an axial direction by means of a shoulder 4a, Fig. 3, of the shaft and a collar 7 of low-friction material which is secured to the shaft, the sleeves 1 and 5 being located therebetween. In modifications, the sleeve 5 is provided with flanges which abut the shoulder 4a of the shaft and the collar 7 and may consist of two axially-aligned contiguous sleeves, the sleeve 1 comprises two portions, the ring 2 comprises two portions, the collar 7 is retained by means of a nut screwed on to the shaft, and a ring may be interposed between the ring 2 and the housing 3.
