Abstract

1414981 Bearings LUCAS INDUSTRIES Ltd 16 Jan 1973 [21 Jan 1972 24 March 1972] 2894/72 and 13800/72 Heading F2A An air bearing comprises a split ring 12, 22 of refractory material with which is associated means for varying the internal diameter of the ring. The ring may be mounted within a split collar 13 and resilient means 14 may be interposed between the collar and the ring. The diameter may be varied by means of screws 15 which act normally of the axis of the bearing, or by means of a screw threaded sleeve 23 which acts to compress a resilient member 24 in which the ring is mounted. The ring may be of carbon or silicon nitride.
