Capillary-action lubricating.- A lubricating pad adapted to be inserted in a railwayvehicle axle-box comprises a woollen sleeve mounted on an inner frame which maintains the sleeve cylindrical, whereby a fresh part of the pad may be brought to bear on the axle by rotating the pad. As shown, the frame comprises thin parallel strips 1 of tempered steel connected by rings 2. but it may comprise a spirally-coiled spring.
