Abstract
373,568. Capillary-action lubricating. SOC. ANON. MANUFACTURE D'APPAREILS GRAISSEURS. 93, Rue Verte, Vilvorde, Belgium. Jan. 19, 1932, No. 1647. Convention date, Jan. 19, 1931. [Class 12 (iii).] Oil is supplied to the underside of an axle journal 1 by a sleeve-like pad 5, the upper portion of which is attached to longitudinal strips 4 connecting the upper ends of flexible blades 8 arranged on each side of the journal, the blades acting to stretch the upper portion of the pad and apply it against the journal. The blades are secured either to the sides of an oil cup 2 positioned in the axle-box and into which the lower portion of the _pad dips or to a cover 6 secured in the cup and provided with a slot 7 through which the pad passes. A leather sleeve 9 is arranged in the slot. The blades are so arranged that they cannot come into contact with the journal either when in their normal position of use or in the position they take up if detached from the pad. In a modification, the upper parts of the blades project horizontally inwards.
