Abstract

519,649. Lubricators. MOONEY, E., and MOONEY, A. Sept. 27, 1938, No. 28057. [Class 12 (iii)] Relates to capillary-action lubricators for railway-vehicle axles wherein an absorbent pad 1 with capillary feeders is supported by a flexible strip-metal frame comprising a cradle 3 secured to a transverse strip 4 to the ends of which are secured double elliptical springs 5 attached to longitudinal side members 6 connected at intervals by transverse strips 7. According to the invention, the upper-and lower frames have extensions and are connected together by guiding means permitting a limitedrelative movement to prevent the. oiler from being torn and'to.permit the pad to be depressed below the axle journal during withdrawal of the. lubricator from the axle-bore 9. As shown, the extensions 6, 10, have finger gripping ends 8, 11, and an upstanding projection 13 on the extension 6 passes through a slot in the extension 10 and has a bent over end 15.
