Abstract
706,999. Securing articles on shafts. SIEGERIST, W. July 17, 1951, No. 16962/51. class 80 (2) A sheave, gear or like member is secured to a shaft by a split conical sleeve 1 which is keyed to the shaft and has grooves 11 each receiving part of the head 14 of a screw 13 screwed into the conically bored hub 4 of the sleeve &c. Rotation of the screws in one or other direction clamps or releases the parts. One of the abutment faces 16 of the grooves 11 and the corresponding face 15 of the screws may be spherical. The several grooves 11 may be replaced by a single annular groove. The screw heads 14 may lie in recesses 10 of the hub 4. The end of the hub remote from the heads 14 may have holes opening into the screw holes 9 so that each screw may be rotated by a tool engaging either end thereof.
