706,356. Pressure gauges. WALTERS, B. Aug. 11, 1952 [Sept. 15, 1951], No. 21700/51. Class 106 (2) In a pressure gauge for pneumatic tyres and of the type comprising a piston working in a cylinder leading to a pressure head 2, Fig. 1, the valve depressing member 5 is freely seated on the base 6 of the main recess 3 in the head 2 and positioned therein by a sealing ring 11 of rubber or like resilient material sprung into and engaging both side walls of an annular groove 12 formed in the recess 3. The valve depressing member 5 may have a flanged base 3A and the exposed surface of the sealing ring I may be of conical form. As shown in Fig. 4 the valve depressing member and the sealing ring are an integral construction having a central aperture into which is inserted a metal sleeve 19 for contacting the valve stem. The surface of the above valve depressing or contacting members may be dished to facilitate alignment with the valve stem.
