Class 122(iii) [Also in Groups V and XXII] In a press for stamping metal between a die and a rubber or like diaphragm subjected to fluid pressure, a rubber diaphragm 21, shaped as in Fig. 2, is anchored between members 10 and 22, Fig. 1, by means of an interposed metal ring 13 having an annular projection 15 engaging a groove 14 in the member 10 which constitutes the wall of an oil pressure chamber 11. The diaphragm is held at its upper part 31 between annular beads or serrations 17, 17a on the ring 13 and member 10 and at its lower part between beads 19 and 26 on the ring 13 and member 22. Oil pressure is transmitted from the chamber 11 to the side wall 30 of the diaphragm by radial passages 16 in the ring. In a modification, Fig. 9, a plain rubber diaphragm 42 is gripped between members 34 and 39 and leakage of oil is prevented by an annual packing member 43 of U- shape in cross-section to the interior of which oil under pressure is supplied by radial passages 46 in the metal ring 45.
