Abstract

603,363. Hydraulic accumulators. ELECTROL, Inc. Oct. 18, 1945, No. 27421. Convention date, Oct. 27, 1944. [ Class 69 (ii)] A gas-loaded accumulator comprises a cylinder 10 formed by two cup-shaped members 11, 12 telescopically screwed together, the member 11 being provided with a liquid inlet port 14 and the member 12 with the gas inlet opening 15 which is arranged to accommodate a flanged base 18 that secures an expansible and compressible metallic bellows 19 to the cylinder. To prevent damage to the bellows 19 due to variations in pressure the free end thereof carries a valve plate 22 into which is fitted an annular resilient ring 24 that co-opsrates with the seating 11c to seal the liquid inlet 14 ; upon expansion of the bellows 19 liquid is trapped within the space formed between it and the cylinder 10. The valve plate 22 is also adapted to engage a resilient ring 25, projecting from the upper edge of the cylinder 12, to limit the compression of the bellows 19 when excessively high liquid pressure prevails or preloading is desired.
