Abstract

A dyestuff preparation is made by a process comprising treating a sulphur dyestuff in presence of a protective colloid and a dispersing agent with a reducing agent customary for sulphur dyestuff reduction in a quantity substantially less than that required to effect complete reduction of the dyestuff. The quantity of reducing agent may be between one-fifth and one-tenth of that required to effect complete reduction of the dyestuff. Reducing agents specified are sodium sulphide, sodium hydrosulphide, sodium hydrosulphite, and glucose. Protective colloid and dispersing agents specified are dextrine, sulphite waste liquor, formaldehyde condensation products with aromatiic sulphonic acids, and certain tanning agents. In examples (1) sodium sulphide, water, a tanning agent, glucose, and Immedialindon RR are mixed to a paste and dried; (2) Hydronblau R, a tanning agent, water, the sodium salt of oleyl-methyltaurine, glucose and sodium sulphide are mixed to a paste and dried.
