Abstract

The sulphonic acids of the bases indicated are made by sulphonation of the following: (1) benzamidine hydrochloride; (2) 2-phenyliminazoline; (3) N - methylbenzamidine hydrochloride; (4) N,N1-dimethylbenzamidine hydrochloride. The sulphonic acids are used in printing pastes (see Group IV (c)).ALSO:Dye preparations for printing comprise a leuco-sulphuric ester derivative of a vat dye and an organic compound containing a sulphonic acid group and an amidine group, a substituted amidine group, or a 2-aryliminazoline group. The vat dye may be of the anthraquinone, indigo, or thioindigo series, and the ester derivative may be an alkali metal or ammonium salt. Urea may also be added. In examples, a dyestuff paste containing 25 per cent of the sodium salt of the acid sulphuric ester of leuco-dibromanthanthrone is made into conventional printing pastes with urea and the following compounds (see Group IV (b)): (1) benzamidine-m-sulphonic acid; (2) 2-phenyliminazoline-m-sulphonic acid; (3) N-methylbenzamidine sulphonic acid; (4) N : N1-dimethylbenzamidine sulphonic acid.
