Abstract

Cellulose esters, cellulose ethers, superpolyamides and superpolyesters are dyed with a dyestuff mixture of which the dyeing constituents consist wholly or substantially wholly of 1 - (b - oxyethyl) - amino - 4 - phenylamino - anthraquinone and 1-methylamino-4-phenylamino-anthraquinone, preferably in the relative proportions ranging from 1 : 4 to 4 : 1. In examples: (1) a mixture of equal parts of the two dyestuffs are dissolved in sulphuric acid, precipitated by pouring on to a mixture of ice, water and ammonia, washed and ground with sulphite cellulose waste liquor; (2) the first example is repeated using proportions of the dyestuffs of 2 : 6 and 6 : 2, respectively; (3) equal parts of finely-dispersed pastes of each of the two dyestuffs are mixed and introduced into a solution of the sodium salt of N-benzyl-m -heptadecyl-benzimidazole disulphonic acid, and cellulose acetate silk is dyed therewith; and (4) cellulose acetate silk is dyed with the dyestuff paste of (1) or (2) dispersed as in (3).
