Abstract
In dyeing wool, half-wool, silk or other animal fibre with dyestuffs which tend to settle from an acid solution, waste sulphite cellulose liquor, or the active substances contained therein (such as sodium lignine sulphonate, cell pitch, sugars) is added to the dye-bath to prevent such settling. The addition further permits the use in the same bath of dyestuffs of different character, for example, substantive and acid dyestuffs. Examples are given of dyebaths for wool containing Alkali Blue 4B, sodium sulphate, waste sulphite cellulose liquor and sulphuric acid; Zambesi Black D, sodium sulphate, waste sulphite cellulose liquor, and acetic acid; Metachrome Brown B, potassium chromate, ammonium sulphate, waste sulphite cellulose liquor, and acetic acid.
