Abstract

Hydrolysis of cellulose acetate goods by alkaline liquids is avoided by adding to the liquid waste sulphite-cellulose liquor or its active constituents (sodium lignin-sulphonate, cell pitch, or sugars). Thus in dyeing cotton goods containing effect threads of cellulose acetate silk with vat or sulphur dyes, the effect threads remain white. Examples are given of dyeing such a fabric with Pyrogene deep black A, Pyrogene cutch 2GR, and Pyrogene green 3G in sodium sulphide baths containing waste sulphite-cellulose liquor.
