Abstract
259,999. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges., (Assignees of Farbwerke vorm. Meister, Lucius, & Br³ning). Oct. 17, 1925, [Convention date]. Dye preparations.-Stable preparations of vat dyestuffs are made by intimately mixing the dry dyestuff with a dry alkali-starch preparation, with or without the addition of a wetting or dispersing agent and a hydrosulphite, or either of them. The alkali-starch preparation may be made by mixing starch with caustic soda solution and drying in vacuo; the preparation of an alkali-starch containing 39 per cent caustic soda is described. In examples (1) di-p-chloranilido-benzoquinone is mixed with alkali-starch; the preparation thus obtained gives a clear vat when dissolved in warm water with the addition of a wetting agent, e.g. sodium sulphoricinoleate and hydrosulphite, (2) indigo-paste is evaporated to dryness with sodium ligninesulphonate, and the mass is ground with alkali-starch and hydrosulphite, (3) the brown vat dyestuff obtained by the process described in Example 2 of Specification 19599/12 is evaporated to dryness with sodium sulphoricinoleate and ground up with the alkali-starch and hydrosulphite, and (4) thioindigo red powder containing 10 per cent sodium sulphoricinoleate is ground up with alkali-starch. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that other alkalies, e.g. sodium carbonate, may be used in making the alkali-starch preparation. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
