[Also in Groups II, XXVIII and XXXI] A device for feeding water-treatment chemicals to a reservoir such as a locomotive tender 1 substantially in the same proportion as the feed of the water to the tender comprises a stock tank 6, containing a solution of the chemicals maintained at constant level by a ball float valve 8, an overflow feed 7 and an annular displacement float 5 connected to a plate 3 also connected to a bellows 2 secured to the bottom of the tender 1. Filling of the tender with water causes pressure on the plate 3 with consequent escape of air from the bellows 2 up the connection 4, acting as a vent-pipe, and lowering of the float 5, whereby treatment solution passes into the tender during filling. When the tender is being emptied of water the plate 3 and float 5 rise, and more treatment solution enters the constant level tank 6 through the ball-valve 8 from a main supply tank (not shown). The tank is fixed to the top 9 of the tender.
