Abstract

1,133,653. Mixing apparatus. E. W. MULCAHY. 2 March, 1967 [8 March, 1966], No. 10206/66. Heading BlC. Lime is metered by a feeding device 16 from a hopper 11 into a mixing tank 12 into which water is also supplied to a constant level under control of a float switch. The suspension is circulated by an air lift pump 25 through a cocking trough 31 and outlet 34. A pH sensing unit in a neutralizing tank (not depicted) controls a solenoid 41 and cylinder 40 to cock the trough when necessary so that it delivers through outlet 33 into a pipe 37 leading to the neutralizing tank. The air lift pump may be situated outside the tank 12 (see Fig. 2, not shown).
