Abstract

1361470 Humidifier KOMBINAT LUFTUNO KALTETECHNIK VEB 14 Aug 1971 38260/71 Heading B1R A steam-air humidifier is provided with a feedwater entry pipe 3 and an outlet pipe 5 for salt enriched water, a metering device 6 for feeding chemicals from a container 11 to the humidifier via pipes 10 and 12, and a switch 14 responsive to the water level in the humidifier for operating a magnetic valve 4 in the outlet pipe 5 for discharge of the salt enriched water when the water level falls to a predetermined level, and a magnetic valve 2 in the entry pipe 3 also controlled by the switch 14. The switch 14 is connected to a switching relay 16 which controls a time delay relay 19 whereby the valves 2 or 4 may be operated to supply fresh feedwater or discharge salt enriched water respectively. The metering device 6, communicates with the source of feedwater via a pipe 7 such that when the feedwater passes into the humidifier the metering device charges a predetermined amount of chemicals into the humidifier, Figs. 2, 3 and 4, (not shown). The chemical additives consist of at least one inorganic or organic acid or salt which form water-soluble salts with the hardness forming salt in feedwater. Examples are given.
