Abstract
1327215 Electrode boilers B J W JOHANSEN and T RASMUSSEN [trading as BIRTON KOLETEKNIK 1/S] 2 Sept 1970 [3 Sept 1969] 42032/70 Heading H5H [Also in Division G3] A steam generator for moistening air in air conditioning systems comprises an electrode boiler with means for sensing the current passing through the water between the spaced electrodes 8 such that, at a predetermined low level of current corresponding to water level α, a switch device 19 causes an electromagnetically-operated inlet valve 6 to open for a certain time to introduce more water into the container 2 via an inlet pipe 4. The closing of valve 6 may be effected by a timer, (not shown), or by the resultant increase of current to a predetermined high level corresponding to water level b such that the switch device 19 operates to cause valve 6 to close. Thus the water level may be controlled automatically. Periodically on outlet valve 16 is opened by an adjustable timer 20 to rinse out precipitations adjacent the container bottom, the inlet valve 6 being opened concurrently. Alternatively, a counter operates valve 16 after a predetermined number of operations of valve 6. Inlet pipe 4 is connected to container 2 in an almost tangential position, to agitate the precipitations when water is introduced, and a number of such inlet pipes may be provided. The draining pipe system 12, 14, 16, is of large diameter compared with the inlet pipe 4. An overflow pipe 18 is provided for container 2, and is connected to drain pipe 14.
