Abstract
1301438 Animal drinking device ALFA LAVAL AB 3 Dec 1971 [8 Dec 1970] 56314/71 Heading AIM An animal drinking device comprises a valve 2 connected to a water pipe 1 and arranged to deliver water droplets at a substantially constant rate to a bowl 4 having an overflow 5. The droplet delivery rate is adjustable and is set to 100-150 drops per minute in the case of newborn pigs. A member 3 is provided on the valve 2 which causes the water to flow continuously when the animal sucks the valve. Newborn pigs for example will use the bowl for the first few weeks of life, after which time they will begin to drink directly from the valve; the droplet supply is then shut off.
