Abstract

957,300. Drinking appliances for animals. P. D. C. WALKER. Feb. 27, 1962 [Dec. 1, 1960], No. 35987/60. Heading A1M. An animal drinking appliance comprises a tubular body 10 connected with a liquid supply pipe 14, and a tube 17 closed by a cap 18 and carrying a resilient washer 16 which seals against the body 10. A nozzle 21 restricts the supply of liquid. An animal pushing upwardly on tubing 20 attached to the tube 17 lifts the washer 16 from its seating so that liquid flows down the outside of the tube and may be drawn into the tube through holes 19. The washer may also be tilted by an animal pushing sideways on the tubing. In a modification a rubber cylinder 26 rests on an inwardly directed flange 25 of an outlet member 24 connected to the liquid supply and carries a container 31, provided with holes 32, which is raised by the animal to lift the cylinder 26.
