Abstract
704,161. Mixing liquids in proportionate quantities. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Feb. 4, 1952 [Feb. 16, 1951], No. 3805/51. Class 86 [Also in Group XXXI] A device for feeding water treatment liquor to a reservoir, e.g. in a locomotive tender, substantially in proportion to the feed of water to the reservoir, comprises a float 1 located in the reservoir, a cam 5 operatively coupled to the float for repetitive actuation by the float at successive rises thereof of a limited predetermined fraction of its total possible travel, and a dosing tank 7 for the liquor having a valve 6 opened by each actuation of the cam to feed a batch of liquor from the tank. The float 1 is coupled to the cam by means of a flexible tie line 2, pulley 3 and counterweight 4 and the pulley is carried on a free wheel so that the lowering of the float does not rotate the cam shaft.
