759,009. Continuous-discharge mixing- machines. DRAISWERKE GES. Dec. 2, 1954 [May 8, 1954], No. 34955/54. Class 86. A machine for mixing a liquid adhesive or binding agent with bulky divided material, for example for mixing a synthetic resin adhesive with wood shavings, consists of a container 1 through which extends a shaft 2 fitted with radially disposed rod-like agitating arms 3 and rotated by a motor 25 driving through a gear box 26 and belt 27, the wood shavings, &c., being fed to the container from a hopper 8 and the liquid adhesive sprayed through spaced nozzles 31. To ensure efficient mixing, the outlet 9 for the mixture is located above the shaft 2 at a level such that a large quantity of the material, occupying from 50 to 70 per cent of the container volume, is always present in the container. The size of the outlet opening is adjustable by means of a baffle plate 28, a variable-speed, toothed extracting roller 10 being provided just outside the opening. In modifications, provision is made to suck air through the container and for the container to be tilted to suit the different requirements of various materials to be treated.
