Abstract

704,653. Screening-apparatus. INLAND STEEL CO. Nov. 11, 1952 [Feb. 15, 1952], No. 28364/52. Class 117 In a device for distributing crushed ore to a movable grate which carries the ore through a furnace for sintering, the ore is delivered to a hopper 30 by a spout 20; which swings on a pivot 22 to distribute the material across the width of the hopper. The ore is discharged on to the sloping front wall 31 and is deflected against spaced finger elements 43 whereby the coarser ore is separated from the finer and is delivered first to the movable grate 10, the finer ore being deposited on top of the coarser. A member 50 levels the ore to a constant depth. The finger members 43 are pivotally mounted on a member 41 whereby their position may be adjusted to suit the relative amounts of finer and coarser materials being delivered to the hopper.
