417,190. Weighing - apparatus for feeding granular materials. SIMON, Ltd., H., and BRIAN, J. C., Bird Hall Lane, Cheadle Heath, near Stockport, Cheshire. March 31, 1933, No. 9720. [Class 143.] Relates to apparatus for governing the weight-flow of cereal grain and other granular materials, of the type comprising an impact plate or bucket upon which the falling material impinges, the impact plate being carried by a counterpoised weighbeam arranged by its movements to control the degree of opening of the delivery port of a hopper from which the material falls. The invention consists in mounting the impact plate upon the beam by means of a parallel link suspension whereby the impact plate remains at the same inclination to the vertical whatever may be the position of the beam. As shown, the impact plate i forms part of an open-bottom bucket h suspended by knife-edges p from the weighbeam j and a parallel motion is given to the impact plate and bucket by a link o. The movements of the beam are transmitted by a link k to a lever d which carries, by adjustable means f, a door b controlling the outlet from the hopper a. A damper plate e on the door prevents hunting movements. Poises l may be adjusted on the beam to determine the rate of flow.
