To all whom it may comem:
Be i known that I, HARRY N. LOWENTHAL,
a citizen of the United States, residing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented certain Improvements in a By-Pass for Feeding Mechanism-for Crushers, of which the following ,is a specification.
This devicerelate's to a feeding crushers for crushing coal, and other granular material, as it is passed from a hopper into a bin, or other receptacle.
The object of my invention is to provide a simple means for by-passing the crushing rolls when it is not desired to crush coal, or
other material, as it passes from the hopper to the bin, or other receptacle.
' In the accompanying drawings:
Fig. 1 is a sectional elevation illustrating my invention;
Fig. 2 is a front elevation;
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the reciprocating feeding device with one of the plates removed, and r Fig. 4 is an enlarged sectional view of the feed late.
Re erring to the drawings, l'is the'frame of the structure made in any suitable manner. 2 is the hopper. 3 is a bin, or other receptacle, to receive the coal, or other material, as it flows from the hopper. 4, 4 are two crushing rolls placed a 'ven distance apart and driven in any suita le manner; 5'
- is a reciprocating feeding plate for feeding the coal, or other material, from the hopper to the space between the rolls so that, as thecoal flows from the -end .of the plate, it will passthreugh the rolls and willbe crushed to the proper degree. This feeding plate, in the present instance, is reciprocated by means of an eccentric 6 on the shaft 7 of one of the rol 4, and n e en c o 8 has a strap e'xdevice for be reciprocated without feeding tending around the eccentric andvis ivot ally connected, at 9, to the plate. 11 the present instance, the plate has rollers 10 adapted to rails 11 secured to the frame ofthe structure. Under the hopper 2 is an inclined plate 12 for guiding the material onto the feeding plate 5. Directly below the feedlng plate is a second hopper 13, which has a chute 14 for directing material into the bin, or other receptacle 3. The feeding plate 5 is made as shown in Fig. 3, and has a detachable section 15, which closes the opening16. When the plate 15 is in the position shown in Fig. 1, the material assing from the hopper 2 is discharged by t e'feeding plate between the rolls so that it will be crushed in its assage to the him-but, when it is desire to feed material: from the hopperto the bin without crushing, the plate 15 is detached, leaving the opening 16 directl below the hop r so that the material wi flow fromthe opper 2 through the opening 16 in'the feeding plate 5 into the hopper 13 and through the chute 14 into the bin.
In some instances, it'ma be desirable to disconnect the eccentric -8, ut therod neednot be disconnected 'as the feeding plate can material to the rolls when the detachable plate. 15 is removed.
'I claim: h v The combination of a air of crushmg rolls; a hopper above sai rolls; a bin, or other receptacle, below the rolls; and a reciprocat' feeding plate for feeding material from t e hopper to the rolls, sa1d feedin plate having a detachable section, which, w en removed, will cause the material to bypass the crushing rolls andflow directly mto in the bin, or other receptacle:
- HARRY 1v, LOWENYTHVAL;
