Abstract

1,005,751. Conveyers. YAWATA IRON & STEEL CO. Ltd. Nov. 6, 1961, No. 39627/61. Heading B8A. [Also in Division F4] Material 24 to be sintered is fed from a swinging spout 25 down a back plate 26 on to a sloping plate 27 and forms a layer in pallets 21 of the conveyer in a sintering machine. The thickness of the layer formed is gauged between limits a and c by a set of pivoted detector plates 1 to 5, which actuate a control device (not shown) through detectors 6 to 10 to govern the speed of the conveyer and thus regulate the thickness of the layer to an optimum b. The top layer of the material is skimmed off by a fixed plate 22, the skimmed material rises over the plate and falls to form a fluffy surface layer on the main layer at 50. The depth of material is finally regulated by a further fixed plate 23. The plate 22 may be omitted (Fig. 5, not shown) or additional plates (not shown) similar thereto added between it and the further fixed plate 23.
