Abstract

PURPOSE: To accomplish the weighing operations of wide range and of high accuracy with the use of a signal conveyor scale by controlling the conveying speed in accordance with the quantity of the articles to be conveyed.
CONSTITUTION: If the quantity of the material 2 to be discharged from a hopper 1 into a conveyor 3 is increased, the material 2 to be transferred from the conveyor 3 to another conveyor 4 is also increased. When this quantity exceeds 85% of the full scale of a conveyor scale 43, an acceleration command is fed from a control circuit 44 so that the conveying velocity of the conveyor 4 is accelerated to a rate corresponding to that excess. As a result, the quantity of conveyance per unit lingth of the conveyor 4 is reduced to return to the preset range lower than 85% of the full scale. If, on the other hand, the feed of the material to the conveyor 4 is lower than 70% of the full scale, the speed of the conveyor 4 is likewise decelerated. Thus, the weighing operation over a wide range can be performed in high accuracy with the conveyor scale equipped with one set of load cell irrespective of the fluctuations in the conveyance.
