Abstract
704,193. Travelling moulds for casting concrete walls. FOGG, C. C., and SINCLAIR, H. P. Sept. 27, 1951, No. 22609/51. Class 20 (2) A travelling mould for casting cavity walls has inner and outer plates 10, 11 and 8, 9, Fig. 1, adjacent inner and outer plates being moved towards or away from each other by means of transverse supports 13 each comprising inner and outer sleeves 17, 19, Fig. 4, the outer sleeve 19 being formed in two separate sections 19a, 19b attached to the plates 11, 9 or 8, 10 and connected to the inner sleeve 17 by left and right handed screw threads 22, 22a rotation of the sleeve 17 being effected by means of an operating lever 23. The plates are adjustably mounted on the sleeve sections 19a, 19b by means of collars 21 and brackets 21a. The plates 8-11 are ganged together by rods 16 passing through the inner sleeves 17 and secured by nuts 18. Seals 25a on the sleeve sections 19a, 19b prevent dirt penetrating into the screw threads. The mould is supported on the previous course by means of side rails 27, Figs. 1, 4 each formed in two vertically adjustable parts 27a, 27b and connected to the outer plates by a screwed bracket 28 which is hingedly connected to a rod 30 on the rail 27. A clamping screw 32 serves to secure the bracket 28 and rail 27 rigidly together and when loosened permits the rail 27 to swing free of the mould plate when it is required to be lifted vertically. Plungers 34, Fig. 3, serve to facilitate horizontal movement of the mould and each comprises an end plate 34a and a bearer plate 35 having a plunger pin 36 and a guide pin 37 which project through holes on the end plate 34a. Cross pins 38 secure the plate 34a to the mould side plates. The mould is moved horizontally by pulley on handles on the side plates and simultaneously pressing on the plunger pins 36. Wall corners are formed by the provision of additional side and end plates 40, 41, 46, Fig. 5 (not shown) together with a core 43, whilst a dovetail core piece 49 provides a key for an internal cross wall.
