703,905. Turbine blades. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG AKT.-GES. March 17, 1950 [Sept. 2, 1949], No. 6734/50. Class 110 (3) The joint between the root of a ceramic blade and a metal turbine rotor comprises two pairs of bearing surfaces in planes converging radially outwards and intersecting in a line o through which passes the axis along which the blade is principally stressed. The line lies outside the quadrangle formed by the four centres a1, a2, b1, 62 of the bearing surfaces, these four centres lying in a plane which contains the axis of principal stress and either also contains the rotor axis or is normal to the rotor axis. In Fig. 2 the root of the blade 3 is clamped in an annular groove formed between the halves 1, 2 of the rotor and a ring 4 for supporting the blades. In Fig. 3 the root of the blade is arranged in an axial groove in the rotor 6. A steel rod 7 of wedge-shaped section is arranged between the base of the groove and the base of the blade root.
