Abstract
702,499. Cores for dynamo-electric machines. BERESFORD & SON, Ltd., J., and SMITH, S. A. Sept. 27, 1951 [Oct. 26, 1950], No. 26085/50. Class 35 A stator having external winding slots 203 closed by a magnetic ring 21 is made by simultaneously punching the two sets of laminae A, B from a single sheet, riveting up the two stacks of laminae, grinding the ends of teeth 202 on the inner core A so that they make an interference fit with the projections 212 on the outer core B, securing preformed coils 22 in the slots 203 by means of slot wedges 23 and assembling the parts A and B by shrinking the inner part by cooling or expanding the outer part by heat. A non-corrodible outer casing, e.g. of brass, may be similarly shrunk over the outer core part B. Specification 702,500 is referred to.
