Abstract

834,847. Electromagnetic brakes. LABAVIA: July 16, 1957 [Aug. 23, 1956], No. 22460/57. Class 35. One member of an eddy-current brake comprises magnetically insulated C or U-shaped core units adjacent limbs of each pair of consecutive core units being surrounded by a coil to form a magnetic pole. As shown, the cores co-operate with a rotor 7 at least partly of copper which has fan blades 18 and air holes 19. The polepieces could alternatively project inwards towards an inner rotor. In other modifications there are two sets of core units with limbs extending axially either towards one another with a disc rotor intervening or away from one another, each to co-operate with a disc rotor on the outer side of the stator. The wound member could, alternatively, be rotary.
