Abstract
888,685. Dynamo-electric machines. SELECTRA Ltd., and KREBS, E. W. April 24, 1958, No. 13090/58. Class 35. In an induction motor with axial air-gap, the radial slot-windings are connected at alternate ends to form a wave-shaped winding. As shown in Fig. 1, the stator of a 12-pole, singlephase, shaded pole motor has a preformed wave-shaped winding 15 lying in open slots 12, and a short-circuited shading conductor 18 lying in semi-closed slots 17 parallel to the adjacent main winding slot. The core 10 is made of spirally-wound strip. The shading conductor, which is formed by threading through the slots 17 serves to secure the main winding in position. A squirrel-cage or wound rotor may be used. A capacitor motor is described in which the main and auxiliary windings are disposed in alternate deep and shallow semiclosed slots. Fig. 5 shows a change-pole winding 25 arranged in sixteen slots, and composed of two wave-shaped windings 26, 27 which may be energized similarly or oppositely to produce 8-pole or 16-pole operation. In polyphase machines, the phase windings may occupy different axial positions.
