Abstract
700,072. Blasting fuzes; matchhead compositions. DYNAMIT-AKT.-GES. VORM. A. NOBEL & CO. June 10, 1952 [June 13, 1951], No. 14591/52. Class 9(1) The pole pieces or bridge wires of electric blasting fuzes are covered with a composition containing neutral lead picramate. In an example the lead picramate is suspended in a 3 per cent solution of nitrocellulose in amyl acetate. The pole pieces are dipped in the composition until the required thickness is obtained. An alternative composition contains 100 parts of lead picramate, 20-80 parts of potassium perchlorate and 80-20 parts of silicon, all parts being by weight. Alternatively the composition may contain 100 parts of lead picramate, 10-30 parts of powdered silver and 20-50 parts of graphite in a nitrocellulose varnish solution, all parts being by weight. Finely divided'metals and alloys such as aluminium, magnesium, zirconium, chromium, tungsten, titanium, ferrosilicon, ferrotitanium and tungsten carbide may be incorporated as well as oxygen carriers such as potassium chlorate, potassium perchlorate, lead peroxide, red lead and lead chromate.
