Abstract
699,073. Cartons. VIVIAN, G. S. Jan. 31, 1951 [Feb. 3, 1950], No. 2900/50. Class 18 One portion 1a of the end closing flap of a carton is arranged to fold below the level of the carton end to accommodate folded gussets 3a, 3b, 3c, 4a, 46, 4c of adjacent portions of the flap. The portion 1a has an extension 12, part of which may be secured to the carton wall 2. The wall 1 may be of double thickness, the outer thickness having a slit (not shown) to receive a closing tongue 21. In an alternative embodiment, (not shown) the tongue 21 may slide between the upper edges of the two thicknesses, and have an aperture which coincides with apertures in these thicknesses when the tongue is partly withdrawn to facilitate dispensing of contents. In another form the portion 2a may be secured adhesively to other parts of the flap and the tongue 21 dispensed with. The carton may be of tapered shape.
