Abstract

697,761. Paper &c. HELLEFORS BRUKS AKTIEBOLAG. July 5, 1951. [July 7, 1950] No. 16010/51. Class 96. Paper or cardboard &c. is made from shortfibred lignocellulosic material, e.g. sawdust by beating &c. to at least 35‹ Schopper-Riegler in an aqueous alkaline solution of at most 0.7 per cent concentration, calculated as NaOH and at or above 50‹C. The time of beating &c. should not exceed 10 mins. if the temperature is above 100‹C. The material may be mixed with mechanical pulp &c. and the beating &c. may be effected in a Jordan mill, disc mill, or beating- engine. It may be disintegrated, before wet grinding, to pieces about 10mm. long. Alkalis mentioned are caustic soda and lime. Specification 673,416 is referred to.
