Abstract
A permanent-magnet alloy has the following composition:-Co 12-14 per cent, Mo 16-18 per cent, Ti 0.3-0.7 per cent, Fe, and impurities, the balance. The alloy may also contain one or more of the following elements as deoxidizers: Mn up to 1.0 per cent, Si up to 0.2 per cent, Al up to 0.3 per cent, V up to 0.3 per cent and Zr up to 0.2 per cent. In the preferred method of making the alloys the Fe, Co and Mo are placed in a crucible or melting furnace and melted and Mn is added to about 1.0 per cent of the original charge. Finally, ferro-titanium is added in amount to cover any probable loss.
